Role of Business Manager for CIK

Title:  School Business Manager (SBM)

Reports To:  Board of Directors

Main Working Relationship:  Principal

Overview:

The School Business Manager (SBM) is a senior member of the non-teaching staff responsible for managing non-teaching activity in the school. They oversee the business management of the school – the administrative and logistical aspects of running the school so that these are done in the most effective and efficient way possible.  The SBM is the Vietnamese representative for the school and is a critically important role to ensure fair prices in negotiation and legal aspects of contracts/human resources/taxation/management/etc. are handled in an ethical manner that ensures smooth delivery of the school program.

Main Duties (including but not limited to):

i.  Financial management, ensuring the school conforms to forecast and  operations budgets by overseeing accounting department, managing the approval process for purchasing, and negotiating contracts with suppliers (Office Operation Budget).

ii.  Student Recruitment:  Lead the recruitment of students and managing the student admission process in cooperation with the Principal and Office Staff.

iii.  Management of support staff, such as office staff, catering staff and cleaners, premises management, bus drivers, etc.

iv.Human resources, including overseeing staff training, strategic planning, including meeting long-term school goals and developments.

v.Health and safety, ensuring the school is operating with the safety and health of students at the center of importance and ensuring the schools high quality image is maintained through proactive building maintenance.

vi.Relationship management with other schools and external partners.

vii.Marketing:  Lead the marketing plan for the school locally by using the CIK approved materials and managing the delivery of the marketing campaign to ensure student recruitment.  Public speaking and presentations are a key component of this position.

Vision:

The SBM will work cooperatively to deliver the shared vision of the school administrative team which includes creating and maintaining a positive work environment that stresses setting goals, review of goal attainment, celebration of accomplishment, and ensuring the team meets expectations and all team members perform to the fullest of their ability within the scope of their job descriptions.

The SBM is a leader in the school and must foster strong relationships with staff, students, parents, and the school community.
