The school year begins with professional Development (Pro-D) training at BC Collegiate Canada ahead of the third year of operations. Pro-D allows teachers and administration to plan the school year, organize activities, collaborate on year and unit planning, and to discuss and learn new concepts in education that will better serve student achievement for the upcoming year.
At BC Collegiate, Pro-D week runs for 5 days prior to the first day of school each year.
Teachers also have opportunities throughout the year to join Pro-D opportunities through the school’s membership in KORCOS (http://www.korcos.net) and during in-session Pro-D days at set times throughout the school year.
The academic goal for this year is to focus on improving literacy in students and Pro-D is focused around this topic.
