Securing the Teacher Work Permit for Vietnam:

Information for Teachers

 

Teachers are required to secure a work permit to teach in Vietnam.  The following is information that will guide you through the process.

Who Is Responsible for Issuing Work Permits?

The Department of Labor, Invalid, and Society issues the work permits.  Work permits are valid for up to 36 months.

 

What is Required to Secure the Work Permit?

Teachers must have:

1.  A valid work contract with an Vietnamese company or school.  In this case, the employment agreement between CIK Hanoi (Employer) and the teacher (Employee).

2.  Have a university degree.  In the case of CIK, teachers are required to have a Bachelor of Education which will suffice for this purpose.  Teachers may also use their undergrad degrees for the purposes of securing the work permit.

3.  Have a Criminal Record Check completed in your home country.

 

How Do I Apply for the Visa?

1.  Work permits are handled in Vietnam (cannot apply for the permit from overseas).

2.  Complete and sign the Application Form.  This will be provided by the school when you arrive.

3.  Completed Criminal Record Check from your home jurisdiction.  This must be completed prior to leaving Canada.  One option is your local police office in your hometown to complete this requirement.  The RCMP also offers a CRC:  http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cr-cj/fing-empr2-eng.htm

BRING THIS DOCUMENT WITH YOU.

4.  Bring your diploma from undergrad and/or Bachelor of Education program.  Bring in a protective envelop to prevent damage.

BRING THIS DOCUMENT WITH YOU.

5.  Completed health check.  This will be organized by the school upon your arrival.

6.  5 Passport Photos (3×4).

7.  Fee:  400,000 VND.
